American singer Britney Spears thanked her fans for the years they campaigned for her release.
A Los Angeles judge last week suspended his father’s control over his cases, a legal arrangement in place since 2008.
“I have no words thanks to you guys and your persistence in freeing me from tutelage, my life is now in this direction,” she wrote.
Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart has said he hopes to end all guardianship in November.
Spears’ father Jamie Spears called the move “disappointing.”
“I cried for two hours last night because my fans are the best and I know it,” the pop star wrote on Twitter.
She added: “I feel your heart and you feel my heart … I know it’s real!”
And at a hearing in Los Angeles, Judge Brenda Penny officially ended the trusteeship agreement the star had established with her father for 13 years after experiencing mental health issues.
“The current situation is untenable,” Justice Penny told the court after filing the petition, but she did not end the guardianship.
She was replaced by a separate guardianship with John Zabel, an accountant chosen by the singer’s legal team.
Spears’ attorneys have requested a new hearing within 30 to 45 days to consider terminating the entire guardianship, and Rosengart added: “Britney doesn’t think a mental assessment is necessary, and I don’t. certainly not think so. “
