Buckingham Palace said it would investigate allegations that Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was bullied by several of her employees, after a press report citing royal aides said that a complaint was filed against her in 2018.

The Times reported, citing sources who said the complaint alleged the Duchess removed personal assistants from her home at Kingston Palace and undermined the trust of a third employee.

The sources also said they contacted the newspaper because they felt the Duchess’ public account was only partially true and they were concerned about how bullying issues would be handled.

Buckingham Palace said it was “extremely concerned” by the allegations in the report, adding: “As a result, our human resources team will review the circumstances described in the article. The staff members involved at this time , including those who have left the family, will be invited to participate to find out: “If any lessons can be learned”.

The statement continued: “The Royal Family has had a policy of dignity in the workplace for several years and will not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”

For her part, Markle responded to this information, claiming that she was the victim of a smear campaign against the men of the royal court.
