Examination of mineral deposits on Earth indicates that iron sulphide is an ideal location for storing precious metals, such as platinum and palladium, and the research team has found levels of sulfur in lunar volcanic rocks, suggesting that iron sulphide is as deep as the Earth.

Geologists have long predicted that the moon would have formed because of the impact of a gigantic object the size of the planet 4.5 billion years ago.
