NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Vitamin "C" helps reduce sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, according to a recent study.
The study by researchers at the University of Dickin, Australia, found that consuming 500 mg of vitamin B twice a day reduced blood sugar levels and decreased high glucose levels after meals for patients in this category.
Glenn Wadley, the team leader, said that sugar had dropped 36% after meals for study participants.
The results are promising, as an increase in blood glucose levels leads to a risk of cardiovascular disease in people with the disease.
The professor explained that vitamin "c" can be an additional inexpensive, comfortable and effective treatment, as well as other diabetes medications.
