China succeeds in growing cotton, potatoes and turnips in the moon
Chinese space program officials announced the success of cotton growing on the moon, saying it would contribute to the establishment of the first human settlement on the moon.
They said that the cotton seeds carried by the Chinese probe Chang E4 (whose name symbolizes the Chinese lunar goddesses) on the dark side of the moon have developed in the lunar soil for the first time in history.

The Chang-4 spacecraft was carrying a significant amount of scientific research material as it landed on the dark side of the moon, including a container called the "miniature environmental circle of the moon".
Professor Liu Hanlong, who is responsible for the experiment, said that cottonseed was the first seed to grow, adding that potato and turnip seeds were also growing well.
Cotton, potatoes, turnips, yeast, fruit flies and watercress are six neighborhoods selected for transmission on the moon, said Shi Gengchen, chief designer of the project.
