Chinese scientists have discovered a cure for liver cancer (HCC), the most common form of primary liver cancer in adults.

"CHC is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the world and infection with the hepatitis B virus is one of the risk factors," said Hu Phu Xu, a research scientist. head of the Chinese project on the human protein, quoted by Xinhua. The main development of hepatocellular carcinoma is particularly in East Asia.

In a cancer study, the researchers classified three subtypes S1, S2 and S3 each with different clinical outcomes, while S3 was associated with lower overall survival and protein analysis. Scientists have discovered the therapeutic target called "SOT 1", the reduction of which effectively stops the spread and migration of HCC.

After experiments on mice, scientists also discovered that treatment with Avasimib, a SOTA1 inhibitor, significantly reduced the size of tumors with high levels.

Hu pointed out that the study provided insight into the tumor biology of this cancer and presented opportunities for personal treatments that target it.

According to scientists, although surgical treatment can be effective in the early stages, the five-year survival rate is only 50 to 70%.
