The Alsahwa Net-Cholera outbreak erupted in Taiz City, killing 25 people and leaving thousands of suspected cases of infection, said the Taiz Department of Health.
Doctors Without Borders has warned of a sharp increase in the number of suspected cholera cases in Yemen.
As of March 17, nearly 109,000 cases of watery diarrhea and suspected cholera have been reported in Yemen, as well as 190 deaths related to the disease. The WHO said that about one-third of the diseases involved children under five years old.
Doctors Without Borders announced that it has begun offering treatment in a cholera unit at the University Hospital of Kuwait in Sanaa, where its teams treated 145 patients in the last 48 hours.
This epidemic comes two years after the country experienced the largest cholera outbreak ever recorded in the world, an event that has sickened more than a million people.
