Arab countries are at the forefront of countries where consanguineous marriage is prevalent, especially the marriage of sons and daughters of uncles and aunts.
Compared to other regions of the world, the Arab region records high numbers of consanguineous marriages which sometimes exceed 50 percent in some countries, especially countries dominated by tribal and clan character.
It is said: “Cousin for cousin!” Why does this voice remain popular despite the many voices warning against consanguineous marriage and its health, social and psychological repercussions?
