Malian defender Salif Coulibaly has confirmed his departure from Al-Ahli during the winter transfer period due to the number of foreign players allowed in the red team.

Al-Ahli will be represented by Moroccan Waleed Azzaro, Tunisian Ali Maalouel and Niger Junior Ajaye, alongside the new Angolan expatriate Geraldo, to set up the club at the exit of Coulibaly.

"The next game against Vita Club will be the final for me with Al Ahly," Coulibaly told the club's Yalla Koura club on Tuesday night after taking part in Smouha's 1-0 victory over Al Ahmar.

Al-Ahly opens its Champions League group stage against the Vita Club Congo on Saturday at the Burj Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

"This performance was a tribute to the fans who know very well my value, so I want to thank them for my support during the last period," commented Coulibaly.
