Facebook and Instagram were suspended for some users on Wednesday, and Facebook says it's working to fix the problem as quickly as possible, according to websites.
The Instagram app is also owned by Facebook. According to the DownDetecter website, social networks are having problems: some users have reported that they see a message that Facebook is undergoing maintenance.
Other users who tried to post status updates on Facebook also received error messages stating that "something went wrong".
"We realize that some people are currently having trouble accessing the suite of Facebook applications and we are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible," said a Facebook spokesperson in an email.
This is not the first break for Facebook: last November, the social network had stopped following an accident caused by a test of about 40 minutes.
