The Russian Space Agency “Ross Cosmos” has published an image of a crater on the surface of Mars taken by the probe of the Russian-European mission “ExoMars-2016”.
The agency wrote: “The photograph on the southeast side of a small crater located several hundred kilometers north of the giant Hellas Plain, and it was formed as a result of a body collision celestial collided with the planet Mars, and the diameter of the crater is about 12 km. “
She added: “This diversity is due to the presence of many minerals which reflect light in different ways and at different wavelengths, and the light indicates the height of bedrock, which may contain ancient clay minerals formed in presence of water. Additionally, windy sand sediments are clearly visible here, causing ripples at the bottom of the pit, and their distinctive reddish-brown color indicates the presence of iron oxides.
