The African Football Confederation (CAF) has announced the dates and modalities of the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (group stage).
The lottery placed the Egyptian team in Group F, along with Angola, Gabon and Libya.
In the event that Egypt is at the top of the group, they will face one of the champions from the other nine groups to play two home games to determine the World Cup qualifier.
Ten teams will qualify for the decisive round, which will take place in the round-trip system to get to know Africa’s five representatives at the World Cup.
The Egyptian national team will host their Angolan counterpart in the first round next June, before concluding the group stage against Gabon in Egypt in October.
The dates for the six rounds of the group stage are as follows:
The first round: Egypt and Angola
June 5, 6, 7 or 8, 2021.
The second round: Gabon and Egypt
June 11, 12, 13 or 14, 2021.
The third round: Egypt and Libya
September 1, 2, 3 or 4, 2021.
The fourth round: Libya and Egypt
September 5, 6 or 7, 2021.
Fifth round: Angola and Egypt
October 6, 7, 8 or 9, 2021.
Sixth round: Egypt and Gabon
October 10, 11 or 12, 2021.
