Development of contraceptive pills in men without side effects

Scientists at the George Washington University in Seattle, an experimental capsule that acts as a male contraceptive pill, have developed sperm activity that has few side effects. In a one – month study of 40 men, researchers studied the effectiveness of a capsule day, which aims to reduce levels of hormones producing sperm and testosterone in the testes.

The doctors found that hormone levels decreased significantly in men consuming the pill, which indicates a significant evaluation of sperm safety. The team notes that the drug will take between 60 and 90 days to affect sperm production.

"The goal is to expand contraceptive options and create a list of options, just like women," said Stephanie Big, a professor of medicine and co-author of the 39; test. "We ignore a large group of potential users with limited options for men."

Of the 40 men involved, 10 placebo capsules were administered, not the active ingredient, and 30 other active drug, but at different doses, 200 mg and 400 mg. 4: 6 men and none of the participants stopped taking the drug because of side effects and passed all safety tests.

"This study is short and we need at least three months or more to stop sperm production," said Christina Wang, co-author of the Los Angeles Meadow Center experiment.

The researchers noted that it could take 10 years before the drug was marketed, and in 2016, scientists found that the men's injection was effective but had significant side effects, and they had stopped the experiment.
