Tunisian presidential spokeswoman Saida Karash disclosed the details of what was published by the Qatari emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, before attending the Arab summit on Sunday.
In a radio interview, the Tunisian official said that the emir of Qatar had informed Tunisia in advance of his intention to attend the inauguration. The Qatari Foreign Minister would then continue to represent Qatar at the summit, claiming to be aware of Prince Qatar's intention to leave the summit.
She added: "The presidency was aware of his departure … The Prince of Qatar before the invitation and the presence at the Arab summit, an honor and a love in the person of the President of the Republic", claiming that the departure was not surprising, as advocated by the media.
The official spokeswoman for the Tunisian presidency stressed that it was not supposed to launch the emir of Qatar.
The emir of Qatar left the Arab summit immediately after the end of the speech of Tunisian President Beji Caid Sibsi and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, without explaining the reason.
"I do not think it's a problem," said Tunisian Foreign Minister Khamis Jahnawi.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said that the Qatari Emir had withdrawn from the Arab summit for reasons unknown to anyone, noting that the Egyptian delegation had not reacted.
