London: The number of planets detected outside our solar system is expected to reach 4,000.

The large figure shows the remarkable success of searching for these planets with telescopes on Earth or in space over the past quarter century, the BBC reported.

A number that also indicates the extent of the planets, where most stars of the Milky Way host at least one planet in orbit. It was one thing that astronomers could not have predicted 30 years ago.

It should be noted that the Encyclopedia of Planets discovered outside the solar system supervised by the Paris Observatory already includes more than 4000 planets of this type.

The Kepler Space Telescope discovered 2,423 other candidate planets.

The number of planets detected outside the solar system varies between the French encyclopedia and the NASA archives because of the slight difference between the criteria for acceptance, among other factors, the BBC said.

The first planets outside our solar system were discovered around a pulsed star, a highly magnetic neutron star, in 1992. They were discovered by Canadian astronomers Del Fryl and Polish Alexander Volchshan.
