A survey of 2,000 men and women in the United States found that 78% of them did not use condoms or that women use sex on a regular basis.
The poll, conducted by Cosmopolitan magazine, showed that 50% of respondents said they did not use condoms and 65% did not use them during their last sexual activity.
The results of the survey were published in the February issue of the American Journal and are between 18 and 34 years old.
The survey, conducted by Power ToDide, an unplanned contraception, concludes that many young people ignore one of the rules of safe sex: condom use.
Forty-five percent of respondents said that what might encourage them to use condoms in the future would be "to associate with a new person", while 35% said that could entice them to do so was "they knew that their partner was suffering from a sexually transmitted disease or AIDS".
A similar percentage of respondents stated that their motivation might be "if my partner / partner does not want to have a pregnancy".
Seventy-two percent agreed to further respect their partners if they insisted on obtaining condoms. "
The magazine says that the United States is facing an STD crisis.
According to CDC data, between 2013 and 2017, the number of cases of gonorrhea increased by 67% and that of syphilis by 76%.
The use of condoms correctly prevents unwanted pregnancies by 98%, according to Bland Brenthead.
