The dollar price against the Sudanese pound jumped today, Friday, 8 pounds at a time on the black market, and it was held steady at the central bank.
The Sudanese pound has fallen significantly against the European euro, the British pound, the Saudi riyal, the UAE dirham and the Kuwaiti dinar.
The dollar price in Sudan rose on the black market to 368 pounds, from 360 pounds yesterday.
While the dollar price at the Central Bank of Sudan has stabilized at 55 pounds buying and 55.27 pounds selling.
Central efforts have failed
Sudan’s high dollar exchange rate coincides with a continuing severe currency shortage, although the Sudanese Central Bank earlier decided to limit imports of non-essential goods.
The central bank is targeting the axis of monetary stability, to reduce the inflation rate to 95% on average for 2021.
Euro and pound sterling
At the Sudanese Central Bank, the euro registered 66.10 pounds buying and 66.43 pounds selling, compared to 66.9 pounds buying and 67.8 pounds selling yesterday.
The European currency jumped in black market transactions to 442 pounds, from 440 pounds yesterday.
The Sudanese Central Bank’s sterling price recorded 74.87 pounds to buy and 75.24 to sell, compared to 75.6 pounds to buy and 75.97 to sell on Thursday.
The British pound rose in the parallel market to 500 pounds from 490 pounds yesterday.
The price of the riyal, the dirham and the dinar
According to the Central Bank’s website, the price of the Saudi riyal was recorded at 14.67 pounds buying and 14.74 pounds selling.
The Saudi currency rose on the black market to 98.10 pounds, from 96.2 pounds yesterday.
The price of the Emirati dirham settled at the Central Bank at 14.97 pounds to buy and 15.05 pounds to sell.
As the price of the Emirati dirham jumped on the black market to 100 pounds, from 96.2 pounds yesterday.
The Kuwaiti dinar price at the Sudanese Central Bank recorded 181.27 pounds buying and 182.18 pounds selling, compared to 182.4 pounds buying and 183.5 pounds selling yesterday.
The price of the Kuwaiti dinar on the black market has risen to 840 pounds, from 820 pounds yesterday.
