Former Health Minister Ole Ilonga, who is currently under investigation for embezzling funds in the fight against the Ebola outbreak, was arrested for trying to escape justice, police said Saturday.
Police spokesman Pierre Mwanamboto said: "The former health minister, Uli Ilonga, has been arrested since yesterday morning for escaping legal proceedings."
Elonga tried to escape to neighboring Congo Brazzaville, Mwanamboto said.
The former minister is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, a police spokesman said.
Elonga denies committing a wrongdoing, but resigned in July, when critics began.
