Egypt News – Cairo: German media: Sharm el-Sheikh summit ushers new era of cooperation between Arabs and Europe

The Egyptian media confirmed the success of the first Arab-European summit that ended yesterday in Sharm el-Sheikh, stressing that it would open a new era of cooperation and coordination between the two sides.

The German NTV said that the EU and the Arab League had agreed to "cooperate more closely", stressing that the deep strategic partnership between the two sides foreshadowed a "new era of cooperation and coordination".

For its part, the newspaper "Die Welt", which is interested in the economic prosperity of the Arab region, underlines that German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that political options must be found to resolve many conflicts in the region and that Europe should contribute to it.

Both parties agreed to follow and build on what had been agreed at regular summits, noting that the next meeting would be held in Brussels in 2022.

The European Union and the Arab League have agreed on a "closer cooperation", a "new era of cooperation and coordination," said the SPIEGEL ONLINE website.

The Arab and European countries have decided to cooperate further to establish security, settle conflicts and social and economic development of the region, and stressed that it is important to promote economic cooperation between the two parties, establishing a strong partnership based on investment and sustainable development, as well as a commitment to develop a positive cooperative work program in the region. Trade and energy, including energy security, science, research, technology, tourism, fisheries and agriculture, with the aim of increasing wealth and reducing unemployment.
