Tawfiq confirmed that he attended the funeral and did indeed arrive at the hospital from which the body was unloaded, in preparation for his burial at Al-Alaili cemetery on Fayoum Road.
He said artist Khaled al-Nabawi insisted he return home and prevented him from going to the graves, due to the long distance and how difficult it was for him, adding that the Prophet continued to communicate with him by telephone, until he was satisfied with his return home.
Tawfiq expressed his deep sadness at the departure of an old friend, artist Izzat Al-Alayli, as he received the news around eleven a.m., and he did not believe the news when a reporter informed him.
He revealed the last phone call between him and artist Ezzat Al-Alayli, two days ago, where they chatted together for two consecutive days, and Rashwan said, “Me and I’zat are talking in one week 3 or 4 times to check each other, and the last call was the day before yesterday and he was at home. He did not suffer from any health crisis, and we must have remembered memories. We had a mutual friend, an actor named Adel Badr al-Din, who worked with Ezzat in the movies and with me in the theater, and the call sparked a lot of laughter and discussion about Adel’s adventures with him in the movies. and with me at the theater.
The great Egyptian artist, Izzat Al-Alayli, passed away last Friday at the age of 86 after an artistic career that has ranged between film, theater and television drama.
