Egypt reveals the reality of the cholera epidemic

The Egyptian government on Friday revealed the reality of the cholera outbreak in the country, following rumors that sparked fears among others.

The media center of the Council of Ministers issued a statement in which it stated that in the light of reports of the "cholera" epidemic in Egyptian governorates, the center had continued its activities with the government. Ministry of Health and Population and had completely denied the news.

The Ministry of Health and Population stressed that "there is no truth about the reported cholera outbreak in Egypt and that all that is mentioned about it is a rumor aimed at arousing the fear and anxiety of the citizens ", emphasizing that" Egypt is totally free of any epidemic, be it cholera or otherwise ". ".

He stressed that the Ministry of Health, through the program of "epidemiological surveillance", prevents the infiltration of diseases in the country by examining all passengers from endemic countries and putting them in quarantine in order to track and indicate their state of health before entering the country.

The ministry also confirmed the presence of trained teams to detect and treat diseases, as well as its commitment to put in place an advanced preventive system and to provide all vaccines against all potential outbreaks. Quarantine in airports and ports has isolation rooms to prevent epidemics.

According to the statement, this is part of the ministry's desire to protect the health of citizens, in addition to providing them with free medical services in remote areas without health services.
