Egyptian athletics player Basant Hamida has decided to withdraw from Tokyo 2020 competitions, having suffered an injury recently.

Basant suffered a tear while performing one of the training sessions while at the prep camp in Cairo, to avoid competing in the women’s 100m and 200m sprint competitions.

And Basant Hamida tweeted on social media: “I completely believe this is the start of my athletic career, not the end, despite the difficult situation and my inability now to overcome it, but our Lord is very generous.”

And she continued, “The Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020 has been a great blessing. Plus the sudden injury and inability to compete at the last time is a great blessing from God, even though I don’t see it now. The good Lord brings nothing but good. God be praised always and forever. Happy and proud of each stage of the Olympic qualification journey until And if it is not completed in its last stage, but happiness is his joy in the journey, and not just when he arrives.

She added: “Thank you, my great coach, for your support and support throughout the difficult period leading up to success. Thank you to the Egyptian Athletics Federation for the effort and total support all the time.”

And she continued, “Thank you to my family, friends and everyone, even those I don’t know, who stood by my side during the last period and encouraged me and sent me the greatest words that could be. Your words have made a huge difference to me. You are the greatest blessing in my life.
