The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt on Wednesday decided to prevent a presenter from appearing on all audiovisual media for a year after her "offensive" comments on female obesity in Egypt.
Anchor Reham Said angered with controversial remarks in which she described overweight women as "a burden to the state and their families", pushing the private television channel Al-Hayat to end her show "Good Girls" on August 23rd.
This ban came after a complaint by the National Council of Women accusing him of insulting obese women.

The complainant accused the Egyptian broadcaster of insulting Egyptian women in the treatment of obesity and the media union decided to ban any activity in the media.
The broadcaster stated that the broadcaster "violates professional standards by using words and phrases that clearly offend Egyptian women."
Reham appeared in a video that circulated widely in the media, saying "fat people" died and a burden for his people, for the state and for Bishohua. "
She continued, "Your point of view Bacon is not sweet and you are abaya or Jalabiya and you can not walk, inspecting some of your femininity."
The media also added that "obese women lose some of their femininity" and that they will not find anyone to marry unless it is "obese" as she said.
The responses to the broadcaster have been scathing through the media, many calling them racism and dehumanizing them.
Some accused the broadcaster of despising a certain class of society whose physical condition prevented them from paying the price of treatment, pointing out that obesity could often be a disease.
The committee's complaints committee said Reham Said had "violated professional standards by using offensive words and phrases for Egyptian women in general".
"Frankish words cause frustration and fears among millions of Egyptian women, in contradiction to the role of a media personality, which is to give hope to patients and to respect the viewers, "the committee said.
Reham Said posted a video, via her account on the site "Instagram", in which she apologized, announced that she was withdrawing from the media work and that she would no longer return to the Screen and would not work in the field of media and art.
