Dr Mostafa El-Feky, director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, said the Renaissance Dam issue is malicious and contains a lot of intransigence, and Ethiopians must wake up.
This happened during his meeting with journalist Sherif Amer on the program “Happening in Egypt” on MBC Masr.
The director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina added that there are a number of Arab countries outside of Africa who sympathized with Ethiopia over the Renaissance Dam issue without knowing it, which further complicated the negotiations, and unfortunately the Brotherhood supports the Ethiopian side.
Al-Fiqi cautioned against voices calling for the intervention of the Arab League in the Renaissance Dam issue, as it would be catastrophic and would not be in Egypt’s interest, as Ethiopia considers that it is a confrontation (Arab-African).
As for the Sudanese position, El-Fiqi stressed that it was the Sudanese interest that had brought the positions with Egypt closer to the negotiations on the Renaissance dam, because it separated the border dispute with Ethiopia and the issue of the Renaissance dam, and that Egypt had many good relations with African countries.
El-Fiqi pointed out that Egypt is not handcuffed and that it cannot be agreed to fill the dam during drought years, and we have many documents including the Constantinople Accord, the World Bank and others.
He continued: Ethiopia has tried to numb Egypt in the Renaissance Dam case since 2011, but Egypt has limits of patience and the international community will not allow a military confrontation to occur. , especially since Egypt has one of the most powerful armies in the country. world and ranks tenth militarily.
Al-Fiqi added: “We are fortunate to have a president who is not emotional in his composition and that the tone spoken by President Sisi in the Renaissance Dam dossier is balanced and does not include hostility towards anyone, noting that President Sisi’s internationalization of the Renaissance Dam issue in 2019 was a smart move.
