CAIRO (Reuters) – The El Gouna Film Festival, in Egypt, rewards Egyptian actor Mohamed Heneidy and Lebanese-Palestinian director Mai Masri with the "Creative Achievement" award.
The third edition of the festival will be held from 19 to 27 September with the participation of 80 films from 40 countries.
"In the previous two sessions, three Egyptian and Egyptian stars from the Arab region have been honored and the third is a world star," said Monday the actress and producer Bushra Abdullah Riza, co-founder and co-founder of the festival.
"This year, we pay tribute to Mohamed Heneidy of Egypt, a well-deserved tribute, as film festivals generally focus on major issues and humor films do not retain enough leeway. be careful despite their big income. "
"We also pay tribute to the Arab director Mai Masri, a documentary filmmaker first, by paying tribute to her by sending her a message about the festival's interest in documentaries no less important than feature films."
Bushra has not revealed the name of the honored foreign star, who is usually a big Hollywood star, noting that it takes a lot of time to negotiate with stars of this size, in addition to the festival's politics not to announce a name before reaching a final agreement with him.
The festival paid tribute to the American actor Sylvester Stallone.
