US authorities have identified 32 cases of measles in the state of Washington, which called on Governor Jay Annesley to declare the state of emergency, US media reported.
In the statement of emergency, Insley said the presence of these injuries posed a risk to public health and that it could quickly spread to other provinces.
As of Saturday, 31 children were injured in Clark County, south of the state, including 21 children aged 1 to 10 years old.
A 50-year-old man contracted the same illness in King County.
The ruling allows the governor to declare state of emergency to state authorities using all resources and to "do everything possible" to help provinces with measles.
Measles is a viral infectious disease that affects children with symptoms such as fever, colds, coughs and rashes all over the body.
In the 1960s, American researcher John Franklin Andrews developed a measles vaccine that reduced the number of infected people in the world.
