The emir of Qatar, Shaykh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, commented on his country's historic victory over Japan in the 2019 Asian Cup final.

Al-Muez Ali scored in the 12th minute, Abdul Aziz Hatem in the 26th minute and Akram Afif in the 81st minute, while Japan's Minamino scored in the 69th minute.
With this victory, Qatar makes its first appearance in its history and is the first final to lose against Japan.
