Emirates Airlines in Dubai and Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi have partnered with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to provide passports to travelers who have been vaccinated against the “Covid-19” virus or whose test results have been tested negative.
State-owned Etihad said on Tuesday that a travel card issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) would be offered on select flights departing from Abu Dhabi in the first quarter. The carrier will extend the passport to other destinations if the initial test passes. From what was reported by “Bloomberg” and seen by “Al Arabiya.net”.
The Etihad added that the travel card will maintain passenger control over their data and make it easier to share their test results with airlines and travel authorities.
Emirates, the world’s largest long-haul airline, will implement the first phase of Corona cards in April to validate COVID-19 tests for flights departing from Dubai.
The UAE has administered nearly two million doses of the vaccine and has the second highest vaccination rate per 100 people in the world after Israel.
IATA has scheduled a test program with British Airways, IAG SA, at the end of last year. And last month, Singapore Airlines began testing a new digital verification process based on the IATA passport framework.
