The Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States welcomed the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to establish the "Arab Space Cooperation Group" on the sidelines of the second session of the World Conference on Climate Change. space in Abu Dhabi from 19 to 21 March.
This occurred at a meeting of the Council held today in Tunis at the ministerial preparatory level for the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit of its 30th Ordinary Session scheduled for next Sunday, with the participation of of an official delegation of the United Arab Emirates led by His Excellency Sultan bin Said Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy. The Council welcomed the role played by the United Arab Emirates and its contribution to the development of Arab cooperation in the field of space science and its use for the benefit of Arab countries, as well as the initiative His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. First cooperation initiative within the framework of the "Arab Space Cooperation Group", which received wide support from the delegations of the participating Arab countries.

His Excellency Sultan bin Said Al Mansouri said that the United Arab Emirates, under the leadership of their wise leaders, was eager to support joint Arab action and promote Arab integration in various economic and social fields , especially those which today constitute the main axes of the future development and the establishment of economies able to follow the recent evolution The most important of them is the. innovation, technology, the digital economy, scientific progress and knowledge, emphasizing that the space sector is one of the most important and is an important pillar of future economies.
He added that the Economic and Social Council welcomed the initiative of the United Arab Emirates to create the Arab Group for Space Cooperation and the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that a satellite project for Arab scientists would be the first initiative of the group reflecting the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates. And its positive and fruitful commitment to support Arab development efforts and advance joint Arab action through concrete and effective initiatives contributing to the promotion of Arab countries and the prosperity of Arab peoples.
Al Mansoori thanked the Economic and Social Council for commending the efforts of the United Arab Emirates and their initiatives in this regard and their call to keep pace with these initiatives.
He welcomed the solidarity of Arab delegations with the state initiatives in this regard, stressing that this measure would establish scientific and practical advances in the capacity of Arab countries in the space sector and to Increase their chances of taking advantage of it to support the economic and social development of the Arab region. And the expansion of Arab resources in various fields.
The meeting discussed a number of other economic and social issues on its agenda, which will be submitted to Sunday's Arab summit meeting, including the master plan for the Arab Strategy for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, the Arab Movement in the Arab World. negotiations on climate change and the treatment of these problems, Arab Region, Arab Strategy for the Elderly and Arab Plan of Action to tackle the causes of terrorism.
