"Environment" lifts ban and restrictions on 11 types of agricultural pesticides

Given their importance and farmers' need for them in various control operations

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has lifted and restricted the import of 11 types of pesticides after reviewing and assessing their risks to public health, whether either for humans, animals or agriculture.

This is based on the GCC country pesticide system because of its importance and the farmers' need for it during the various control operations.

The ministry has identified five types of pesticides that have been banned from import: glyfosite, hexethiazox, potassium metamethyl, methyldehyde and methyl thiophenate.

The ministry said the lifting of compliance included six types of public and agricultural pesticides, which were in the "Cypermethrin pesticide, Fasimbermethrin, Tetramethrin, Siflohthrin, Amidacloprid, Pibronil oxide".

She referred to the notification to the Standing Committee on Agricultural Systems and Policies of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Ministry informed all importers that they should be allowed to import these pesticides after their re-evaluation, insisting on the obligation not to import or use the previously banned types of pesticides and limited to more than 300 pesticides. as part of the Ministry's efforts to reduce public health risks.
