The Iraqi Foreign Ministry announced the inclusion of the decision to exempt Iraq from 75 percent of its pledge to support funds for several Arab countries at scheduled Arab League meetings in Tunisia next Sunday.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad al-Sahaf said in a statement that "the ministry has managed to include the decision to exempt support funds for a number of Arab countries".

The statement did not specify the reason for the Iraqi movement, but the country has been suffering from a financial deficit for years due to the accumulation of wars during the last war against the organization "Daash", in addition to the impact of the decline in world oil prices.

In a related context, Al-Sahaf confirmed "the beginning of the consultation session of Arab foreign ministers in the presence of Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim".

The Foreign Minister of Iraq has arrived in Tunisia to attend the Preparatory Meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers, which precedes the Arab Presidents Summit.

The Iraqi minister will meet with several Arab counterparts as part of the strengthening of bilateral relations, an exchange of views on developments in the region and on issues of mutual interest.
