The famous American rapper Lil Nas X has aroused a wide controversy after announcing the release of “demonic” shoes containing “real human blood”.
According to CNN, the launch of this shoe was part of Lil Nas’ cooperation with New York-based company MSCHF, and the design of the shoe, which was called the “devil’s shoe,” was quite similar to the design of a Nike shoe called the Nike Air Max 97, although the famous sportswear and equipment company is distancing itself from the design.
In an emailed statement to CNN, Nike said it was not involved in the manufacture of these shoes, adding, “We have no relationship with Night Naz or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes and we do not endorse them. “
666 pairs of the new shoes were released, some seeing the number symbolizing Satan, and their soles containing 60 cubic centimeters (2.03 fluid ounces) of red ink and “a drop” of human blood, according to the MSCHF. They are priced at $ 1,018 a pair.
A spokesperson for MSCHF said the blood in these shoes belonged to company employees, adding: “We love to sacrifice ourselves for our art.”
The shoes sparked outrage on the internet over the weekend and drew criticism from a number of prominent political and religious figures, including South Dakota Governor Christie Noem and Evangelical Pastor Mark Burns. In a tweet, the latter called the sneakers “evil” and “heresy”.
Meanwhile, some fans of the rapper have expressed support for the idea and their desire to own the shoe.
