Naama Al-Sharhan said the committee, along with representatives from the ministry, was continuing to discuss articles of the Mental Health Bill, which included 58 articles, and amendments made by the committee to some of its clauses and articles and what he had created in terms of materials, preparing a consensus around and drafting them into their final form.
She added that the bill is one of the important laws, as it helps to cope with the pressures that affect a person’s psyche and behavior, and works to achieve psychological and social stability in society.
She said that according to the bill, relevant government agencies, public utility companies, the private sector and individuals will establish nursing homes to accommodate and treat mental patients whose condition does not require staying. in the mental health facility, and they don’t. to have a breadwinner to take care of them or not to have the necessary family care, and the implementing regulations of this law specify the conditions and control the work of these houses, specifying that the provisions of this law are ‘apply to the psychiatric patient and to the mental health establishment, and any other establishment in the country concerned with the care of the psychiatric patient and the workers of one of them, including free zones.
She explained that the bill aims, in accordance with the text of the second article thereof, to regulate the relationship between the mentally ill and the various parties dealing with him, in order to provide him with the necessary health care in accordance with the best standards in force in this field, to protect and preserve the rights and dignity of the mental patient, reduce the negative effects of mental disorders in the lives of individuals, families and society, and promote the integration of the psychiatric patient in society.
Naama Al-Sharhan added that the committee had reformulated during its meeting the recommendations of the council referred to the committee regarding the subject of “the policy of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment regarding the achievement of sustainable development of fishery resources, animals and agriculture in the country. ”, and it was submitted to the chairmanship of the council after the approval of its report.
