The ethics committee of the International Football Association “FIFA” has issued a decision prohibiting Cameroonian Issa Hayatou, the former president of the African Football Confederation, from participating in any football-related activity for one year.

FIFA said in a statement: “After a long hearing, the Judicial Chamber ruled, on the basis of information gathered by the Investigation Chamber, that Hayatou had failed in his duty of loyalty in his function as president of CAF , by entering, in the name and on behalf of the Confederation, into an anti-competitive agreement with Lagardère Sport which was detrimental and caused serious damage to CAF (both financially, to the tune of more than 11 million dollars, and reputation).
As a result, the Judicial Chamber concluded that Hayatou had violated Article 15 of the current version of the FIFA Code of Ethics and punished him by prohibiting him from participating in any kind of football-related activities at the national level. and international for a period of one year. In addition, a fine of 30,000 Swiss francs was imposed on Hayatou and the Cameroonian was notified of the motivating decision today, date on which the ban comes into force.
CAF had appointed Issa Hayatou honorary president of the African Football Confederation, and he will therefore be absent from CAF conferences during the coming period.
