FIFA defender Ata Alian, killed in a terrorist attack by a right-wing extremist in two mosques in New Zealand Friday in the Christchurch region, has applauded FIFA.
The attack on Australian Brenton Tarrant killed 50 people, the police chief of New Zealand, Mike Bush, said Sunday.
"We are deeply saddened to learn that the New Zealand futsal goalkeeper (Atta Alian) has died during the painful attacks in Christchurch," FIFA said in its e-mail. "All our condolences to the family of Alyan and the families of the victims of the murder".
Alian, a Palestinian citizen, is one of six Palestinians killed by the terrorist attack and six wounded, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said, citing unofficial information.
These Palestinian victims join other Jordanian, Egyptian, Syrian, Saudi and Iraqi nationals as well as immigrants from East Asian countries.
Trent, who opened fire on worshipers at the Light and Lenwood mosques during Friday's hardening, appeared in court on Saturday and was charged with murder.
The killer of "New Zealand" has not applied for bail and will remain in prison until his court appearance on April 5.
The New Zealand Prime Minister promised Saturday to strengthen the laws on the carrying of arms as a result of the bloody attack that shook the entire world.
