Former Senegalese player El Hadji Diouf advised his countryman Sadio Mani to leave his club if he wants to win the title of African player of the year thanks to our Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.
"If Manny wants to win the title of African player of the year, he must leave Liverpool," said Diouf to the French newspaper Le Observer.
Mani lost the title of African player of the year two years in a row for his teammate Mohamed Salah.
"The fact that he is in the same club with Mohamed Salah as his main rival of the African gold ball is not in his favor," added Diouf.
"Mani has a crazy talent, he's better than me, he just has to learn to be decisive, daring and more aggressive at the club or the team.So he wants to win the title of African player of the Year, he has the potential to do it. "
Diouf won the trophy in 2001 and 2002, first as a French Spear Player and second after several months in the Ridds in the summer of 2002.
Since Manny joined Liverpool in the summer of 2016, he has played 76 Premier League matches and 19 Champions League matches.
The Senegalese international scored 31 goals in the league, including 11 in the Champions League.
Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luca Modric won the title of World Player of the Year before the Croatian International, but came out of the best Puskas award for the best goal of the year.
Salah was recently named African footballer of the year 2018 by the African Football Confederation (CAF) for the second year in a row, as well as for the second consecutive BBC prize.
