Issam Abdel Fattah, chairman of the Referees Committee of the Egyptian Football Federation, said that he had personally addressed a number of top European referees to lead the match on Saturday.

"But these referees apologized for not leading the match against Zamalek and Al Ahli because they were busy playing games in their national tournament," Abdel Fattah told FilGoal.com.

"At the moment, we are waiting for a response from Ravshan Irmatov from the Uzbek government."

"We do not choose referees, we have also invited a number of unions to nominate referees available for the match and we are also waiting for an answer."

"The best solution so far is Irmetov," he concluded.

Irmatov is one of the world's elite leaders: he has received the award for the best referee in Asia five times, the last in 2014, and the GlobeSoccer award for the best referee in the world in 2015.

Uzbekistan have played five games in the last Asian Cup, including the final between Japan and Qatar.

Irmatov also led two matches at the 2018 World Cup, bringing together Argentina, Croatia, Spain and Morocco.
