The Egyptian women's basketball team lost Mozambique on Thursday at 80-66 in Afro Basketball's quarter-final.
Egypt reached the quarterfinals after beating Cameroon on Wednesday 68-63.
The Pharaohs lost the first quarter 26 to 9 and the team won the second quarter 19-11.
But in the third quarter, Mozambique won 16-14, before winning the fourth and final quarter 27-24.
Egypt will compete for the fifth to eighth position.
Egypt, which has lost to Senegal and Angola, is expected to meet on Friday during the play-offs.
The women of the Pharaohs have a chance if they finish fifth or sixth to qualify for the qualifications for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but only if they win in the match of tomorrow.
The qualification consists of the first six teams of the current tournament and then directly qualifies the first two places for the Olympic Games.
The Afro Basketball Championship will take place in Senegal from August 10th to 18th.
Egypt won the tournament in 1966 and 1968 and second place twice in 1970 and 1977, then in third place in 1974.
