The International Weightlifting Federation has ruled Egypt out of the world championships in Thailand after positive samples emerged from a doping test.
This led to the complete exclusion of the Egyptian team from the competition, one day before the start of the tournament to be held from 18 to 27 September.
FIFA has given its Egyptian counterpart the opportunity to appeal this decision until the end of the tournament, the first week of October.
The exclusion decision threatens the emergence of the Egyptian weightlifting team at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
It should be noted that Egypt won two out of three bronze medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by lifting weights by champions Mohamed Ihab and Sarah Samir.
