Carlos Queiroz announced his resignation from Iran just minutes after a 3-0 loss to Japan in the Asian Cup final.
"The easiest way to do that is to borrow the words of the old song, the end is there," Queiroz said at the match's press conference.
"I am happy and proud to say that I did it my way."
Queiroz inspired the famous song Frank Sinatra by announcing his departure from the Black Knight band, changing his words.
He formed Iran for 8 years, but failed to obtain the continental title for which he was appointed. Iran won the Asian Cup title only once in 1976.
This is the fifth time that Japan qualifies for the final, reaching 4 times in 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011, all of which has come to fruition.
