Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona is about to resume training with Argentine club Gimnasia La Plata.
Maradona met with the club officials and agreed 80% to finalize the contract, his lawyer Matthias Morla told ESPN.
Maradona admitted that he wanted to resume training in Argentina.
"I want to clarify things, negotiations are continuing," said the former coach of Argentina in a video to fans of Gimnasia.
The Argentine legend underwent a right knee surgery last July. She then posted a video to prove that he was recently able to come back as a coach.
Former Al Wasl and Fujairah coach left the Mexican club Dorados de Sinaloa after losing the final of the second local division, Apertura and Clasura, in his last technical experience last season.
Gimnasia is at the bottom of the table with a point on five games after four consecutive defeats.
Maradona called his compatriot Gabriel Batistuta to join the team, but the former striker refused to invite because of his operation on 17 September in Switzerland.
"I want to thank Maradona for the contract I had long wanted, good luck," commented the former Fiorentina striker and Roma on Twitter.
He had previously led Mandio de Corrientes and Racing Club in Argentina in 1994 and 1995 respectively.
