Moroccan Sports Minister Rachid Talbi will not participate in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
"Morocco will not apply for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations," said the sports minister at the Moroccan state-run sports channel.
The Moroccan website 360 revealed previously that a well-informed source had indicated that the kingdom of North Africa would not bid to host the first edition of the Nations Cup with 24 teams.
CAF had withdrawn the Cameroon tournament in recent days.
The report adds that Morocco will officially announce the move in the coming hours, two days before the closing of the door.
Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Subhi highlighted Egypt's ability to host the 2019 Africa Nations Cup after withdrawing from Cameroon.
The Egyptian Football Federation has announced its intention to submit a file to host the tournament to be the subject of a statement from the state organization on January 9, in addition to supporting the Morocco file.
"I respect the point of view of the Football Federation and its presence in the African Union and want to support all countries of the continent," said Subhi at the MBC channel in Egypt.
"The state is ready with all the sports federations and the largest football federation, so we decided to organize the world championship of arms in 2021 and the cycling championship."
"The football federation has a respectful point of view and whenever it wants to organize a tournament, we will provide support and cooperation," he said.
