Schalke 04 has announced the dismissal of coach Domenico Tedescu after a 7-0 home defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League.

Bob Stephens and Mike Bushkins will be in charge of the team's next match against Red Bull Leipzig.

Tedesco, 33, took over from Schalke in 2017 and led the team in 75 matches at various tournaments: 33 wins, 17 draws and 25 losses.

The coach of Italian origin has a historic record in the Bundesliga since he is the only one to have won the men's title of the match after leading Schalke to a 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund in the derby after a 4-0 lead in the first half.

Schalke is 14th in the Bundesliga with 23 points, four points behind Stuttgart and Werder Bremen is in the quarter-finals of the German Cup in his last hope of winning the league title to save his season.
