The Spanish Super Cup could witness a new system. A quad tournament and the setting up of games outside Spain.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Spanish Football Federation (SPF) president Luis Rubales has announced a new Super Cup system with four teams vying for the title with matches from abroad.
The new system will include the league champion and host, as well as the King's Cup champion and his semifinal and final match.
The first edition of the system will take place this year, one week before the start of the new season, as soon as the clubs have agreed, announced the newspaper Marca.
"All matches will be held in one city and over several days to draw more attention to this competition," said Rubales.
Barcelona won the title last year after beating Sevilla 2-1 in the Moroccan city of Tangier.
