A source from the African Football Confederation (CAF) revealed the position of the application of video technology at the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
"The video rule will be applied to the Africa Cup of Nations," CAF source told FilGoal.com.
"The technology should be implemented since the beginning of the tournament," added the source.
The Asian Cup saw the implementation of the VAR from the quarter-finals.
Previous experience in the VAR application, in the final of the CAF Champions League, between Ahly and El Tigre.
The next tournament will take place in Egypt on 6 stadia: Cairo, Salam, Alexandria, Ismailia, Port Said and Suez.
The rule of using the video assistant provides for the review of four cases during the game:
1. The objectives and whether or not there was a violation of the law during the process itself or its prelude.
2 – Decisions to calculate shots on goal.
3. Direct red cards (taking into account that the expulsion for the second warning is not subject to revision).
4 – The identity error of the player to whom a warning or expulsion was sent during the game, in that the referee gives the card to another player than the bad one.
The regulation states that the review and amendment of the award by means of the decision of the video to support must result from a "very clear mistake" and not of doubt.
