MADRID (Reuters) – Real Madrid's Gareth Bell is set to join Barcelona in the Spanish league on Saturday after the sanctions committee announced he was refusing to sign a penalty.
Gareth Bell was threatened with suspension due to his controversial ceremony against Atletico Madrid in the 3-1 win over Real Madrid.
The Competitions Committee of the Spanish Football Federation issued a statement in which Gareth Bell had been acquitted of insulting the supporters of Atletico Madrid.
The statement revealed that the player's movement was not aimed at the masses, so the Committee did not consider it necessary to impose a penalty on the player.
Real is preparing to face Barcelona at 10 pm on Wednesday in the King's Cup semi-final.
The first leg is over on a positive draw at Camp Nou.
Real is third in the Spanish league with 48 points after 25 rounds, nine points behind leader Barcelona.
