Neymar responded to criticism from Pelé, the Brazilian football icon, who asked the latter to focus on the game and avoid the stadium's steady fall.
"The criticism of Pelé, I find it interesting," said Neymar, of Paris-Saint-Germain, in an interview with Canal France.
"As long as you do not win, you have the critics, I have never tried to go through the World Cup.
"Today, people talk a lot because the subject is about Neymar and everything is amplified," said the 26-year-old. "I respect Pelé's criticism but I do not approve of it."
Neymar, the most expensive player in the history of football, is the subject of constant criticism because of his frequent fall in court, claiming that he was subjected to strong interference on the part of its competitors.
Neymar joined St Germain for 222 million euros from Barcelona in 2017.
The Brazilian has played 22 games this season with St Germain and has scored 20 goals and 10 assists.
