Qatar has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup, which is currently held in the UAE, with a 1-0 win over Iraq.
Bassam Hisham Al Rawi scored Qatar's only goal in the 62nd minute with a superb free kick.
The Qatar national team was the first chance of a serious encounter, with the crossbar side blocking a shot from Abdul Karim Hassan at the third minute.
Qatar goalkeeper Saad Al-Shaib fought an Iraqi team in the 24th minute to prevent the two blacks from qualifying.
The Iraqi team was hit hard by Hamam Tariq's injury to the midfielder, who left the stadium crying and instead took part in Fort Faisal.
At the start of the second half, Qatar striker Akram Afeef missed the Iraq match.
But Bassam Hisham managed to put Qatar in the lead with a great free kick.
Iraq tried to return and supported all ranks in the hope of achieving equalization, but its attempts failed.
Qatar will face South Korea in the quarterfinals on Friday.
