English tennis player Andy Murray has hinted that he could retire from the game by the end of January because he can not afford to suffer.

Murray prepares for the Australian Open from 14 to 27 January.

"I can not confirm my ability to play and I endure pain for four or five months," Murray said at a press conference Friday morning.

"I want to participate in Wimbledon and then stop after that but I'm not sure I can do it," said the 31-year-old.

Wimbledon will be held in July.

"It's been 20 months since I've suffered and I've done everything to try to overcome my groin injury, but it has not improved much," said Murray.

"I'm better now than six months ago, but I still feel a lot of pain, I can play well, but not the level I had used to."
