London – A new Scottish study reports that people who eat a diet high in vegetables, fruits, beans, whole grains and healthy fats have better cognitive function as they age.
During the study, conducted at the University of Edinburgh, a group of over 500 people aged 79 were asked about their eating habits and faced a series of memory and reasoning challenges to test their thinking skills.
In addition, magnetic resonance imaging was performed over 350 meters to collect data on IR brain structures and form a statistical model for comparison.
Experience revealed that those who followed the Mediterranean diet and ate more leafy vegetables and little red meat at different stages of their lives had better mental faculties compared to other mothers.
